Senate Passes Bipartisan Resolution Recognizing National Park Week

WASHINGTON – The United States Senate passed a bipartisan resolution introduced by Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Steve Daines (R-Mont.), along with other Senate colleagues, to establish April 20-28, 2024, as National Park Week. 

“Hoosiers are proud of the Indiana Dunes National Park, which serves as a great example of the vast landscapes, wildlife, and history that national parks offer throughout our country. During National Park Week, we celebrate the Indiana Dunes National Park and America’s great outdoors,” said Senator Young.

Young helped author legislation that established the Indiana Dunes National Park as the 61st national park in the United States and the first national park for the state of Indiana.

Below are opportunities to participate in National Park Week:

Saturday, April 20: Discovery. Entrance fees are waived 
Sunday, April 21: Volunteers. Find opportunities to volunteer
Monday, April 22: Earth Day. Participate in Earth Day Park-Wide Cleanup at Indiana Dunes National Park
Tuesday, April 23:  Innovation. History of our nation’s innovation is preserved in national parks. Learn about the innovative projects happening in our national parks today.
Wednesday, April 24: Workforce Wednesday. Meet the incredible workforce of National Park Service’s employees, interns, fellows, volunteers, contractors, partners, and more. 
Thursday, April 25: Youth Engagement. Learn about the opportunities for youth and young adults to get involved.
Friday, April 26: Community Connections. Learn about the important work the National Park Service and partners are doing in communities across the country both within and outside park boundaries.
Saturday, April 27: Junior Ranger Day. Become a Junior Ranger
Sunday, April 28: Arts in Parks. Explore art within the parks
