Young Resolution Honoring the SS Edmund Fitzgerald Passes the Senate
WASHINGTON – On the 50th anniversary of the loss of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, the United States Senate passed a resolution – cosponsored by U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) – recognizing the 29 crew members who died during the shipwreck, which occurred during one of the worst storms ever recorded on the Great Lakes.
“Fifty years ago, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank in the Great Lakes, tragically ending the lives of all onboard. Our resolution honors those who were tragically lost and reaffirms our commitment to the safety of America’s maritime workforce,” said Senator Young.
Young introduced the resolution with Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).
