Young Applauds President’s Executive Order on Quantum
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, applauded President Donald Trump’s Executive Order to supercharge U.S. innovation in quantum technologies and strengthen our national security in this critical area.
“We need to ensure the United States has the talent and research capabilities required to lead the global tech competition and outcompete China,” said Senator Young. “I commend President Trump and his Administration for this executive order on quantum and commitment to ensure America leads the next frontier of quantum innovation. Quantum technologies promise to dramatically transform every industry and sector of our economy and revolutionize our technological capabilities. I’ve introduced a bill to accelerate quantum technology development and real-world applications that are vital to U.S. economic and national security.”
Earlier this year, Senators Young and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) introduced the National Quantum Initiative Reauthorization Act to accelerate quantum technology development and real-world applications that are vital to U.S. national security and global economic competitiveness. Their bill passed the Senate Commerce Committee unanimously in April and awaits consideration by the full Senate.
