Young and Braun Ready to Assist Hoosiers Impacted by Severe Weather

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – U.S. Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Mike Braun (R-Ind.) are urging Hoosiers to remain vigilant and heed advice from local authorities following severe weather in Indiana. Hoosiers in need of assistance can contact Senator Young’s office at 317-226-6700 and Senator Braun’s office at 317-822-8240. 

“My prayers are with Hoosiers who were impacted by severe weather last night, especially those in Pendleton where a tornado was confirmed. Many roads remain closed in the Pendleton area today, and I urge everyone to heed the advice of local authorities before leaving their homes,” said Senator Young. “My office is ready to help anyone in need of assistance.”

“Maureen and I are praying for those affected by the severe weather that hit Indiana last night,” said Senator Mike Braun. “It’s important for anyone affected to listen to local law enforcement and, along with Senator Young, my office is ready to help Hoosiers affected by this storm.”  

The following information was provided by the Indiana State Police this morning:

Pendleton – Due to damage from the storm that hit the town of Pendleton last night ( Monday 527), all traffic into Pendleton has been suspended until crews can clear debris from streets and power can be restored. At I-69 exit 219, east bound SR 38 is closed until further notice. On the east side of Pendleton, US 36 west bound traffic is open to SR 67, which also remains open. However motorists are being asked to avoid the Pendleton area.

The Red Cross has set up at Pendleton Heights High School to provide assistance to local residents. There have been no reported fatalities. Media may stage at the Pendleton Heights High School on the east side of town, or the VFW on SR 38 on the west side of town per Madison County EMA. The Indiana State Police are providing assistance in traffic direction, road closures and security in the town. For further information please contact Madison County EMA.
