Young Applauds Affordable Clean Energy Rule

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) today commended the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) rule as a replacement for the harmful “Clean Power Plan” issued under the Obama Administration.

“This is encouraging news for Indiana, where we prioritize affordable, reliable, and clean energy. The misguided ‘Clean Power Plan’ failed to consider input from energy producing states like ours, and mandated a burdensome one-size-fits-all approach. In the House, I voted to repeal the harmful ‘Clean Power Plan,’ and I am pleased that an alternative has been introduced that takes into account Hoosier concerns.”

As a member of the House of Representatives, Senator Young cosponsored H.J.Res.72, a Congressional resolution of disapproval to overturn the burdensome “Clean Power Plan.” He also voted in support of the Senate companion, S.J.Res.24, which provided Congressional disapproval of the rule, but was later vetoed by President Obama.
