Young Statement on Secretary of Defense Mattis

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) today issued the following statement regarding the resignation of Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis:

“During his decades of distinguished service in the Marine Corps and his exceptional tenure as Secretary of Defense, Jim Mattis has served our country with extraordinary courage, integrity, and self-sacrifice. As the consummate warrior-scholar, he has always put duty to our country and the Constitution first, and the American people are safer because of his service. As Secretary of Defense, he has focused on restoring the readiness and lethality of our armed forces and enhancing the alliances that are so vital to American national security.”
