Young, Colleagues Celebrate One-Year Dobbs Anniversary

WASHINGTON – On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The ruling made clear there was no constitutional right to take the life of an unborn child and returned the power to regulate abortion to the people and their elected representatives. This was a historic achievement for unborn life.

To mark the occasion, U.S. Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), and a group of Senate colleagues introduced a resolution celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs. The resolution expresses Congress’ commitment to pursue legislation that protects the unborn and supports new mothers and their children.

“One year ago, the Dobbs decision corrected a historic injustice,” said Senator Young. “As we mark this victory for life, we also must redouble our efforts to support pregnant women, mothers, and babies at the local, state, and federal level.”

Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), James Risch (R-Idaho), J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Roger Marshall (R-Kansas), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Katie Britt (R-Ala.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), and Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) were also original cosponsors of the resolution.

Full text of the resolution can be found here.
